A Relaxed Approach — with Structure
at Judith Kay's Arden, Delaware studio
(just north of Wilmington Delaware, 30 minutes from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)
Judith Kay is not your usual voice teacher!
She will not stand at the piano, plinking out notes so that you can learn the song by rote. She will not tell you that you sound beautiful, if you do not ... but ... what will she do?
She will teach you to:
- read music at sight, in both treble and bass clef.
- differentiate your chest voice from your high voice, and control both.
- increase your range and breath control.
- project your voice.
- gain confidence in your overall sound.
- sing the popular or jazz songs you want to sing, and sing them well.
- scat-sing, and transcribe songs off of a CD (advanced students).
Judith Kay has particular expertise in repertoire from the Great American Popular Songs (jazz standards of the 1930s and ’40s), as well as Brazilian bossa nova (Jobim and others).
Contact Judith Kay soon to set up your own PRIVATE lesson time!!
Beginning students, please note: a one time get-acquainted lesson will precede the first lesson series. You must be 15 or older.
"Her unique talent as a musician and vocalist is transferred to her unique teaching method. It was not easy! I remember doing scales that took a lot of discipline and precision. Of course, that is what every vocalist needs. I also enjoyed working on jazz and bossa nova pieces, her specialty, which not every teacher can provide. I'm a better vocalist today for my experience with Judith Kay."
—Jerry Bilton, Executive Director, Community Service Building, Wilmington, DE
"Judith has a wonderful way of bringing the best out in your voice. She accomplishes this by working together with you as a team, discovering along with you the possibilities of the instrument you already possess. She has the versatility and know-how to help a singer of any level to accomplish his or her goals."
—Sean Kelly, Musical Theatre Vocal Student
